We’ll take a break from the scheduled Wednesday blog post on the process of writing because…
…I’ve been tagged!
This month, I’m participating in the Absolute Write June Blog Chain and Rosemerry has just passed the baton. Check out her blog post on People You meet Online who you Don’t want to Meet in Real Life.
Now, I have to take a theme from her post and create mine from it, so I’m going to generalize.
Here are the Five People I Don’t Want to Meet in Real Life…Ever:
1. Jay Leno’s wife–as far as I’m concerned, he doesn’t have one.
2. Kathy Lee Gifford–I’m mad at her for ruining the last hour of the Today Show and for dumbing down Hoda Kotb.
3. Roseanne–Just way too crass for me. I wasn’t made for that type of humor. Sorry!
4. Stephen Hawking–I don’t like feeling dumb and his brand of genius might melt my mind.
5. Denise Richards–Did you see her on E!’s “It’s Complicated?” She went on a blind date with a guy and made the poor man feel sooooooo awkward. It was just plain mean.
And that’s my completely comprehensive, not at all petty list of the People I Don’t Want to Meet in Real Life…Ever. Who would be on your list??
Now, it’s my turn to tag, so I’m tagging Soma at Rotating the Bear. Head on over!
Status: Today, I finished reading Forever by Judy Blume. It was a fun book and a quick read. As a YA writer, I’m pretty sure it falls under required reading. After finishing that, I headed down to the library and ordered I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter and Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Myers. I didn’t actually request the second Twilight book, but the librarian said I ought to have it thrown in for good measure. The librarian actually said to me: It’s ok, I like all of these books, too. Then I realized, I should probably feel kind of funny ordering so many tweeny books. Oh well! I also picked up Tattoo by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
As I mentioned in my last post, I found an artist for my graphic novel. I’m excited about him. His name is Ben and I’ll be sending him a rough query, scene-by-scene synopsis of the first few chapters, and the first several pages of script today. So I’m a busy girl in the coffee house today.

Nice post. I was extremely tired today from working long hours (it is now almost 3 AM here) and I had some laugh reading your post. I admire Stephen Hawking a lot and I hope someday I can meet him in real life.

Wow. I don’t think we can be friends. I like just about everyone on your list (minus Richards – I don’t know enough about her).
I’ll try to visit your blog often, but please know that all is not the same btwn us.
Who would be on my list. Let’s see…
Woody Allen because of the Mia Farrow/Daugher situation
GWB because I’d end up in jail or worse – Gitmo

Let’s see, my list is so very long. I guess I don’t want to meet Robin Williams – he seems way too desperate for attention, strikes me as one of those kids whose constantly screaming, “Mommy, mommy, look at me look at me look at me watch me do this watch mommy mommy!” until you just want to stuff him down a storm drain and let the Stephen King “IT” clown get him.
I don’t want to meet Pres Bush because I might end up in prison for life for something I might do.
I don’t want to meet Sting (The Police) -too arrogant. Also despise Howie Mandel. And Gilbert Gottfried (sp?), the “comedian”. Hmmm, that’s probably enough.

Oh, and also, yes those Judy Blume books are classics. I recommend all of them (if you haven’t read them already). Have you read the S.E. Hinton books as well?

Oh, this made me laugh! I’d be interested to know what you think of Ally Carter’s book…did you hear about it on Pub Rants?
Good luck with the graphic novel!

Great lists everyone, though I can’t say I agree with all!
Freshhell-wow you really don’t want to meet Robin Williams, huh? I don’t blame you and your reasoning made me laugh. I haven’t read S.E. Hinton. What does he/she write? I’ll add to my list.
Elrena-I did hear about Ally Carter’s book on Pub Rants! And I know read her blog fairly regularly. So far Pub Rants and the Verla Kay boards have been a great source of suggested reading material. Haven’t steered me wrong yet, so I’ll let you know about the Gallagher Girls…or have you already read them?

S.E. Hinton is a woman. She wrote The Outsiders (made into a very successful movie), That Was Then This is Now, Rumblefish. They were THE YA novels when I was a teenager (back in the stone age). I’m not sure how dated they are now but certainly worth looking for.

Great comments. How boring if we all loved the same people or subjects! I can be friends with any person who has a brain.

OH! good question.
Nicole Kidman because I don’t think she knows how to talk like a real person, she only does that movie star voice of hers.
That blond vampy trampy arch conservative Ann Coulter because she makes me want to spit with her self aggrandizing bullshit.
Al Sharpton because he’s like an Al Sharpton cartoon and it would freeak me out.
Anyone, (and I realized this will make me very unpopular) who has appeared on Dancing With the Stars.
