I’m back to work–this time with agent’s notes

First off, I’ll be announcing four winners this week for the copies I have of the Cheryl Brooks and Terry Spears books! I will email the winners for their addresses as well, but heads up for that.

In other news, I’m back from Colorado! I climbed two 14ers in 2 days–Crestone Needle and Humboldt–and managed to come back extremely sore, but more or less alive. Look, I even have evidence:

Before leaving, I sent 150 pages to Agent Dan with the promise of sending the rest sometime next week (hopefully around Monday). I got  back yesterday afternoon and have pretty much been a zombie for the past 24 hours. Seriously, I’m exhausted. But, an email came in from my agent tonight with his thoughts on those pages, which I suppose means, it’s time to get back to work!

My first thought upon receiving my agent’s email was: when does he ever sleep? I mean, it’s almost 1 AM his time! Second thought was that the changes look doable so far. He thinks the voice is strong, the pages look good. The revisions boil down to clarifying certain aspects and beefing up the mythology behind the story. First chapter needs a little more work and I may even think about putting something before the first chapter. But most importantly I agree with the suggestions and there is nothing in his notes that will require a major overhaul in the first half of the story. Now, who knows how that will change once he reads the second half…but fingers crossed, it will be somewhat smooth sailing!

Beginning tomorrow morning I will be re-entering hibernation with a few exceptions. I need to rewrite a good chunk of the manuscript (a portion not yet sent to Dan), layer, revise and then get ready to send it off! I anticipate adding about 15-20k words this week…yikes.
